David Wood has a long-established, international reputation across the oil, gas and energy industries. This has been earned through holding high-level positions with major and independent companies in corporate, commercial, strategic and technical capacities. He has conducted detailed work on oil and gas fiscal designs, petroleum economics, acquisitions and divestments, negotiations, portfolio modelling, project and operations management, earned value, schedule and duration, budgeting and strategic planning liquefied natural gas (LNG) technologies and trading, non-conventional gas resources and their enhanced recovery techniques (shale oil, gas and gas liquids, coal bed methane and gas hydrates), gas to liquids (GTL) and pipeline gas supplies and their competition with other fuels, including a wide range of renewable energies. This work coincides with the massive industry investments made in recent years in these areas. His reputation is underpinned by extensive publications in prestige industry journals on a wide range of topical and technical issues. He is also co-author of several books related to these topics (e.g. fiscal terms, economics, LNG, EOR, unconventional reservoirs) David served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Natural Gas Science & Engineering from 2014 to 2016 and remains an editorial advisor for that journal. He is co-editor-in-chief for Advances in Geo-Energy Research and an Associate Editor for the journal Petroleum. He has published a large body of technical (geoscience and engineering) and commercial (financial and valuation) work in peer-reviewed journals with high impact factors, and in specialist industry journals. His H-index is about 32.
